According to RootData, from August 2023 to the present, crypto fundraising events have risen in tandem with secondary market trends, while financing rounds have decreased by 10% compared to Bitcoin’s peak price in November 2021. During the same period, monthly fundraising amounts have consistently faced a “resistance level” of $1 billion, dropping from $6.12 billion at the previous bull market peak to $1.01 billion, a decrease of approximately 83%.
The data indicates that in this bull market cycle, project valuations have been adjusted, and while project financing needs have increased, funding difficulties have also expanded. Additionally, institutional investors face growing pressures in fundraising and exits. Therefore, the participation of Crypto angel/individual investors will help support more early-stage Crypto entrepreneurs and project innovations.
Based on factors such as investment activity and influence, RootData has released a list of the Crypto Angel Investors 50 for the past year (August 1, 2023 — August 1, 2024). The top 10 angel investors by investment frequency in the past year have collectively participated in investments totaling $1.88 billion across 234 financing rounds. These investments were primarily distributed across infrastructure (15.9%), DeFi (9.2%), and GamFi (8.3%). Projects in the new AI category accounted for 4.7%, surpassing the attention given by institutional investors to categories such as modular (2.6%), LSD (2.1%), DePin (1.13%), and RWA (0.75%).
